Usage Meter added to Manage My ResNet
ResNet database has been switched off.... (previous) :: Newsletter 5 (next)
As promised, we have added a Check my network usage page to Manage My ResNet. It seems very fashionable these days to have Beta software and this certainly is (beta not fashionable)
. We are in the process of enhancing it but for now it does exactly what it says on the tin.

I’ll add it to the future features list but it may be some time before I get to look into creating an RSS feed. Great idea though – thanks

Just a quick note to expand on Marks comment, the hardest part of creating an RSS feed is that we would need to do it securely, and authenticate it against UoB so that you can’t see other peoples usage stats.
Doing this in a secure way is possible, but involves a lot of mucking about with apache modules (which we’re not currently using), running an SSL server (which we don’t currently do) and buying a correctly signed certificate.
We do have a few more ideas for RSS feeds that could benefit from such a service though – so it’s certainly on the list!
I’m not saying “no” – more “not just now”

Does it need to be secure? I doubt many people would mind people knowing their bandwidth being used. Could just be set as an option if people care about keeping it private.

would it be possible to create a rss feed so that we could find out our daily network usage each day?
