Doing this in a secure way is possible, but involves a lot of mucking about with apache modules (which we're not currently using), running an SSL server (which we don't currently do) and buying a correctly signed certificate. We do have a few more ideas for RSS feeds that could benefit from such a service though - so it's certainly on the list!
