Scheduled outage at Wills Hall and Durdham Hall, 13th Feb 2012

There will be some maintenance work happening on the electrical supply to Wills Hall, The Holmes and Durdham Hall on the 13th Feb 2012.

Mains power is expected to be off from 09:30-11:00 at The Holmes and from 12:00-13:30 at Wills/Durdham Hall.

As they're switching the power off to the site, all the data networking equipment will be powered down as well. This means that ResNet Wired, ResNet Wireless, VisitorNet and the Halls Admin network in these locations will be unavailable for the duration of the work. Telephone service may also be interrupted.

Planned Maintenance 17th April 2012

On Tuesday 17 April, from 7am - 9am significant maintenance work is planned to the network infrastructure.

There will be two breaks of up to 20 minutes each which will affect Internet connectivity for the entire university. This includes ResNet Wired, ResNet Wireless, VisitorNet, Eduroam and access from campus PCs/public computer rooms.

Scheduled database maintenance, 13th Feb 21:00

Because of essential maintenance to one of the university database servers, the following services will be unavailable between 21:00 and 21:30, Monday 13th February. This work is to fix the underlying cause of the problems we experienced before Christmas.

For the duration of the work, the following ResNet services will be unavailable:

The My ResNet Control Pannel (http://my.resnet.bris.ac.uk) will be unavailable
The ResNet Activation System (http://go.resnet.bris.ac.uk) will be unavailable
The ResNet Bandwidth Monitoring Gadget will not report data use correctly
The ResNet Live Status screens on the ResNet Website and the IS website will be unavailable

The helpdesk connection troubleshooting tools will also be unavailable, but as it's out of Service Desk opening hours that's not going to make much of a difference!

Wireless Network Maintenence 22nd November

On Tuesday 22nd November, between 07:00 and 08:45, all wireless services on campus and in residences will be switched off whilst a routine system software update is applied.

ResNet Wireless Upgrade, 6th September

ResNet Wireless is due for an upgrade so that we can increase the number of people who can connect to it. As part of that work, we're making major changes to the infrastructure behind ResNet Wireless on Tuesday, September 6th 2011.

ResNet Wireless will experience intermittent outages throughout the day.

Once the work is complete, anyone using ResNet Wireless will need to re-run the ResNet Wireless Setup Wizard to continue using it.

Electrical work, all Stoke Bishop halls

Important maintenance work on the power supply to the Stoke Bishop area will be taking place on the 4th August 2011 between 2pm and 6pm.

This will affect ResNet, Wireless (all wireless, including ResNet & eduroam services), Admin network and telephone connectivity at all Stoke Bishop halls.

Your hall office should be able to answer any further queries that you may have.

4th August 2011

The following locations will have no network (ResNet, Wireless, Admin Network) or telephones:

The Downs Workshop
The Grounds and Gardens offices etc

Additionally, some (possibly all) of Hiatt Baker will be without power for the duration of the work.

Important maintenance work on the power supply to the Stoke Bishop area will be taking place on the 7th and 8th April 2011 between 8am and 4pm.

This will affect building power, ResNet, Wireless (all wireless, including ResNet & eduroam services), Admin network and telephone connectivity throughout Thursday 7th and Friday the 8th.

Your hall office should be able to answer any further queries that you may have.

Because of essential maintenance to one of the university database servers, the following services will be unavailable between 8:30am and 12:30am, Wednesday 2nd March.

My ResNet Control Panel will be unavailable
The ResNet Bandwidth Monitoring Gadget will not report data use correctly
The ResNet Registration System will be unavailable
The ResNet Live Status screens on the ResNet Website and the IS website will be unavailable

The helpdesk connection troubleshooting tools will also be unavailable, so there will be a diminished support capacity for ResNet until about 1pm.

CANCELED - Emergency Outage at Stoke Bishop, Jan 13th 2011

Update 2011-01-12 15:10 Because of the extent of the impact this work would have, it has been cancelled and will be rearranged for a later date.

This affects all Stoke Bishop Halls of Residence, the outage is planned for 8am-5pm on Thursday Jan 13th 2011

Due to a fault on the high voltage power feed for the area, emergency works have to be carried out on the mains supply at Hiatt Baker on Thursday Jan 13th.Â The impact will be much wider than just Hiatt Baker though.

The halls affected will be:

Hiatt Bakter Hall
Wills
University Hall
Badock Hall
Churchill Hall
Durdham
and any other smaller locations in the Stoke Bishop Area

All network connections (ResNet, Admin network, Eduroam, ResNet Wireless) and telephones for those Halls are routed through Hiatt Baker, so the work will mean that no phones or internet connections will be available at any of the Stoke Bishop halls for most of the day.

Sorry for the short notice, but we've only just been informed about the power work ourselves.
